Dr Etyang underwent his undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. He joined KWTRP in 2010 to set up ward based surveillance for invasive pneumococcal disease at the Kilifi County Hospital. He subsequently did an MSc and PhD in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, exploring potential links between infectious and non-communicable diseases. His work spans the whole range from clinic and field based observational studies to ward based clinical trials.
