Sharing of Research Data

KWTRP recognizes the impact that data sharing has on research such as opening new avenues of collaboration, promoting reuse and providing resources for education and training. By sharing data generated from research projects, KWTRP complies with funder, institutional and journal requirements. To ensure sharing is conducted in line with ethical and legal standards, KWTRP has put in place policies and procedures for data sharing and also has a Data Governance Committee which oversees data sharing processes.

How to request for data

Internal Data Requests – these are requests for access to data from users affiliated with KWTRP. Data requests are to be submitted using the Data Request Application hosted on the institution’s intranet

External Data Requests – External user are required to submit a data request to the data governance committee for consideration. Follow the steps outlined below to request access:

  1. Download and complete the data request form
  2. Email completed data request form to the Data Governance Committee at dgc@kemri-wellcome.org

KWTRP Online Research Data Repository

Knowing that the value of data usually outlives the project life cycle, KWTRP encourages researchers to practice good data management through proper documentation, archiving and preservation. The KWTRP Research Data Repository hosted on Harvard Dataverse archives and publishes data, code and documentation linked to publications as well as standalone research datasets. With over 200 curated datasets published on the repository, KWTRP continues to make research data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reproducible.
