Dr. Jeremiah Khayumbi is the Clinical Trials Facility Manager. He is an Immunologist with expertise in laboratory diagnostics, host pathogen interactions, translational research and clinical trials. He has a worked with different teams in multicultural settings both within Kenya and internationally, interacting with different partners and organisations. This exposure has inculcated him with the spirit of teamwork, enhanced my cohesion capabilities and potential to form new partnerships. Prior to this appointment, he served as a part-time lecturer at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (School of Health Sciences), and The University of Kabianga (School of Science and Technology, Department of Biological Sciences). Due to his passion for mentoring upcoming scientists, he intends to continue this capacity strengthening for research in his current role. He also has a keen interest in the design and implementation of quality management systems, having led the ISO accreditation process of laboratories at the KEMRI, Centre for Global Health Research, Kisumu. This experience will enable him to support the quality assurance processes within our clinical trials here to enhance reproducibility, adherence to standards, hence generation of credible results. His breadth of experience in conducting diverse studies will be vital in understanding the needs of different study teams within the programme and how to support them adequately.
