An interactive and exciting workshop on designing hospital based applications took place on Wednesday 22nd June at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme offices in Nairobi. The co-design workshop was fun, interactive and aimed at equipping people with skills to design mobile application prototypes for use in health facilities. Naomi Mwinga, Steven Magare, Dr Chris Paton and Mat Johns organized and took participants through the workshop that will see the applications developed for mobile devices. Participants were from the University of Nairobi, the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Pediatric Association.
The co-design workshop is an initiative that complements KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme ongoing work, of conducting a survey of electronic health records used in public hospitals in Kenya. The aim of this study is to develop partnerships (both academic and institutional) and the knowledge necessary to create a new large programme of research around the development and use of clean, clear information contained in Electronic Health Records (EHR), systems for improving health and health outcomes.
