Mugo is a Research Fellow in the Health Systems Research Department. He has over 14 years of experience in health research, spanning public health, epidemiology, clinical trials, and implementation science. Dr Mugo has a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, a Master’s in clinical trials and a PhD in public health. His PhD research, through the University of Amsterdam, showed that HIV test uptake and early diagnosis can be enhanced through targeted screening for acute HIV infection, implementation of phone and in-person reminders for repeat HIV testing, and provision of HIV self-testing through community pharmacies.
