Biography

Peshu is a Chief Research Officer at the KEMRI Centre for Geographic Medicine Research Coast. He is the previous holder of the position of the Centre Director, a position held since 1998. Initially he was the Head of the Kilifi Unit under the Centre for Clinical Research, Nairobi. & nbsp; He is a trained medical doctor with a Masters in Public Health (UON) and a Diploma in Tropical Child Health from the Liverpool University. Before joining KEMRI, Dr Peshu worked at Coast General Hospital, Kinango District Hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital and finally as the District Medical Officer of Health, Kilifi District. He has been a key person in providing guidance and leadership in both administrative and scientific affairs of the Centre, with the promotion and advancement of research being the primary responsibility. He is also the coordinator of the malaria node of the East Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR). His current plans are to seek funding to initiate Malaria and HIV/AIDS research activities at the Taita/Taveta County on the Kenyan-Tanzania border.
