Positive outcomes on health systems research

In Nairobi City County, for 12,202 patients, seventy one percent of hospital admissions were shared across four public hospitals that offer inpatient neonatal care. The results of this study were shared during a meeting in Oxford at the Green Templeton College this week on 5th December, where promoting cross-divisional research collaborations on global health systems research was the main theme.

Dr Georgina Murphy who led these studies, indicated that some of the positive outcomes emerging are that hospital teams are increasingly motivated to either to push for increased capacity building and for strong consideration for additional resource allocation in their newborn units. The study examined the need for and demand for neonatal inpatient services across 31 health facilities in Nairobi County spanning public, private and faith based hospitals.
