Dr Abdisalan Noor to co-chair Malaria Evaluation Group

Dr Abdisalan Noor was appointed as co-chair of the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Monitoring and Evaluation Reference Group (MERG) on Feb 15^th 2013. In his new role, Dr Noor will work with his co-chair, Dr Richard Cibulkis from the World Health Organisation(WHO)  to coordinate the RBM-MERG activities.

As Noor explains, ”MERG plays a key role in advising countries on best practices for malaria control monitoring and evaluation and as the first co-Chair from a malaria endemic country, I hope to share my experiences working with national programmes to improve guidance and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities for country-level decision-making ”

 The Monitoring and Evaluation Reference Group (MERG) was formed to advice on all matters relating to malaria monitoring and evaluation of international, regional, and national initiatives, providing technical advice on state-of-the-art approaches to monitoring and evaluation of malaria programs. MERG intends to do this by providing technical guidance on appropriate indicators, data collection methods, analytic strategies, and dissemination of recommendations.
